Whilst funerals usually have to be arranged quickly following a death, a memorial service can be held at any time. The purpose of a memorial is to commemorate the deceased after they have been buried or cremated.
A memorial is a service of thanksgiving, and provides an opportunity to reflect and remember someone dear to you. Circumstances might mean you couldn't attend the funeral or perhaps you want to mark an anniversary. As with a funeral, a memorial is an opportunity to mourn the deceased or to share stories and memories to celebrate their life. The main differences are ... there's no coffin present and the service can be held at a date, time and place that suits you.
Whatever your reason for wanting to honour your loved one with a ceremony, I can help you create a service that is sombre or uplifting, or a combination of both, depending on your wishes.
As well as paying tribute, you might like to play music, read a poem or say a prayer – anything at all really that has meaning for you. For example, biodegradable balloons released en masse at the end of a service provide a moving tribute as they rise into the sky. Or, if you’re not convinced such balloons are good for the environment, you might like to blow bubbles instead.
A memorial service can take place in virtually any setting or location - such as a garden, park or beach; as well as by a graveside or at the BURIAL or SCATTERING of ASHES.
I can guide and advise you if you need my input but, above all else, the service I provide will be tailored exactly to your wishes.
